IN BRIEF: Uruguay launches waste to energy project

The national energy department of Uruguay's industry, energy and mining ministry launched a US$20mn project to transform agro-industrial waste into energy.

The four year BioValor project will begin with pilot initiatives in the meat, wool and industrial sectors, the government announced. The Global Environment Facility will provide US$3.5mn.
