ISA Peru unit energizes line

Test operations have begun on Peruvian power transmission infrastructure that aims to shore up electricity dispatch in Lima region to cover growing demand.

According to information from grid administrator COES, ISA-controlled Consorcio Transmantaro (CTM) energized 220kV project La Planicie‐Industriales (pictured) for the first time.

CTM inked the 30-year concession contract in 2014 with the government for the double circuit 17.3km line and works at its La Planicie substation and Luz del Sur's Industriales substation.

Test operations parallel the granting of the project's definitive concession to CTM by the energy and mines ministry.

In a related note, the ministry's energy environmental affairs office (DGAAE) approved Luz del Sur's supporting technical report (ITS) to expand the Alto Pradera substation in Lurín district, Lima region.

An ITS is filed when modifications to a project with environmental approval are not expected to cause a significant environmental impact.

Also from Peru, the ministry granted Sociedad Eléctrica del Sur Oeste the definitive concession for 138kV 48.8km transmission line Camaná-Alto Ocoña in Arequipa region.

And DGAEE gave Odebrecht Energía del Perú an additional 20 working days to respond to EIS observations for the 750MW Rio Grande hydroelectric project. The company originally had 30 working days from May 19 to submit the information.
