Mexico awards consortium Sonora dispatch project

Mexico's state utility CFE has awarded an US$87mn contract for a transmission line for the Empalme I combined-cycle power plant to a consortium comprising six local firms.
The line will transport electricity from the 770MW power station, currently under construction in Sonora state.
It will comprise seven 400kV and 230kV lines with a total length of 426km, in addition to five 230kV substations and 16 feeders.
The dispatch contract encompasses engineering, supply, civil works, electromechanics, testing and startup. Work is due to be completed by August 2017.
Firms Exclusive High Tech, Castco de México, DINA Camiones, Obras Especializadas del Pacífico, RA Construcciones y Adaptaciones, and Actividades de Construcción y Servicios El Roble form the winning consortium.
CFE awarded the contract to build the Empalme I plant in April to a consortium made up of Senermex, Sener, IEPI México and OHL Industrial, while the plant's turbines will be built by Siemens.
The natural gas-fired plant is being built in Empalme municipality and expected to be finished in 4Q17.
