Mexico publishes methodology for calculating guarantees
Mexico's energy regulator CRE has published the methodology for calculating financial guarantees for the connection of generation plants and load centers to the national grid.
According to the regulation published in the official gazette on Monday, the calculation will have to be completed within 30 days by power control authority CENACE.
CRE said the methodology will contribute to the efficient expansion of the electric power sector.
Interconnection is a major problem for the rollout of renewable energy projects in Mexico with 44GW of capacity currently waiting to be hooked up to the grid.
Currently there are 62 transmission and distribution projects in different phases of completion of which 46 are in the pre-investment phase, 10 are in the bidding phase and five are in the execution phase.
