Panama solar project pipeline expands

Panama's authorities granted a provisional license for a solar power generation project in David district, Chiriquí province.

The planned 19.8MW Mata Nance photovoltaic (PV) project is owned by SDR Energy, which also holds provisional licenses for PV projects Boquerón (19.8MW), Los Llanos (59.4MW) and Progreso (49.5MW).

The company has 12 months to submit required documents to secure the definitive concession, according to public services regulator Asep.

The documents consist of detailed transmission or distribution connection information; a map describing required rights of way or acquisitions; property deed or rental proof; an authenticated copy of the EIS approval resolution from environment authority Anam, an authenticated copy of the approved EIS and authorization from state transmission company Etesa.

The watchdog also extended to July 5, 2015 the deadline for International Panama Power to submit required documents to secure the definitive concession for its 72MW thermo Ippco Termo América.
