Peru grants hydro, transmission concessions

Peruvian energy authorities granted hydroelectric and transmission concessions in Lima and Moquegua regions, respectively.

Huaura Power Group was awarded a definitive concession for the 15MW Yarucaya hydro, according to an energy and mines ministry resolution.

Yarucaya picked up a PPA in the country's third renewable energy resources auction. The plant will use water from the Huaura river and commercial operations startup is scheduled for December 2016.

Under the PPA, the company will supply 115GWh/y at a price of US$0.0505/kWh.

In a separate resolution, the ministry issued Enersur a temporary concession for the Ilo 4-Montalvo transmission line. The company has 176 days to carry out feasibility studies for the 500kV, 74km project.
