Peru readies hydroelectric call

Peruvian authorities have tabled into the energy promotion pipeline a call to supply hydroelectric power starting in the medium term.

The process entails 1.2GW supply from new plants starting in 2020-21, according private investment promotion agency ProInversión.

Bidders must have a definitive or temporary concession, or water use rights resolution. Winners may install capacity anywhere on the national SEIN grid.

The capacity aims to cover growing demand and an increase in natural gas-fired generation. A timetable for the call has yet to be released.
