The energy and mines ministry's energy environmental affairs office said the companies have until January to respond to observations.

Hidrocañete, which operates the 4MW Nuevo Imperial hydro plant, filed a loan request for up to US$6.8mn with the Inter-American Investment Corporation to refinance debt acquired to build and operate the run-of-the-river complex.

The ministry and Líneas de Transmisión Peruanas signed a 30-year concession contract for the 630km, 220kV Moyobamba-Iquitos transmission project.

In June, Consorcio Isolux Transmisora Peruana won the concession, with an investment bid of US$499mn and a service cost offer of US$74mn.

The group has 52 months to complete the infrastructure, which will span regions San Martín and Loreto and connect the isolated Iquitos system to the national SEIN grid.
