Prysmian Brasil inks cabling contract with Eletropaulo, Copel
Prysmian Brasil, the local subsidiary of Italian cabling and fiber optics firm Prysmian, signed a 187mn-real (US$50mn) contract with São Paulo state power distributor AES Eletropaulo and Paraná state distributor Copel to deploy 10.9km of underground cables in the cities of São Paulo and Curitiba.
In São Paulo the system will connect Eletropaulo's power grid to the Vila Formosa transition station, covering 2.9km. In Curitiba, the connection will run for 8km between the Curitiba-Centro Uberaba substations and it will deactivate the current system, removing 25 towers, 20 power poles and 42km of cables.
Prysmian will be responsible for the supply of materials, equipment and technicians to perform civil works, electromechanical assembly, testing and commissioning of the underground transmission line.
