Roundup: Energy efficiency, grid management, multilateral support

Chilean lower house members introduced a bill that would require social housing projects to incorporate energy efficiency, in particular solar panels.

President Michelle Bachelet's 2014-18 energy agenda includes a plan to save 20,000GWh/y by 2025 through energy efficiency. Last month, the energy ministry rolled out a US$140mn related program.

Energy platform developer Innovari launched an initial phase for a demand-side management project in partnership with Punto Tigre Mall in Buenos Aires.

"The platform will improve the site's interaction with the power grid over energy efficiency and performance, and help reliably integrate renewable and distributed energy resources," Innovari said in a statement.


IDB approved technical cooperation to support Nicaragua's power sector strengthening program which secured a loan from the multilateral lender last year.

The additional funds aim to help improve management at national dispatch center CNDC, carry out subsidy studies and review energy offtake procedures, according to bank information.
