Venezuela's state oil firm PDVSA has launched operations of the Muscar-Santa Bárbara natural gas pipeline in northeastern Monagas state, a PDVSA release said.
The 26-inch (66cm) diameter 15km pipeline will supply 100Mf3/d (2.83Mm3/d) of natural gas to Venezuela's industrial and thermoelectric sectors.
"This gas pipeline is in line with our strategy to utilize more natural gas to supply thermo plants, domestic community use and the nation's industrial sector," PDVSA president Eulogio del Pino said.
Venezuela's natural gas network has grown by 1.802Bf3/d in capacity and 1,449km in length over the last 14 years, the company added.
