Endesa to help with Chile drought mitigation
Endesa Chile reached an agreement with the hydraulic works department (DOH) to restrict operation of 450MW hydro El Toro starting at month-end to mitigate a fifth year of drought.
The southern region VIII complex will reduce output to a minimum, without risking supply to the central SIC grid, to reach a sufficient water level in the Laja dam to cover irrigation requirements in 2015, Endesa said in a statement.
The company, together with the public works ministry, DOH and irrigation associations will also establish workgroups to analyze optimum operation models.
