Farallon reportedly in talks to buy Brazil highway operator
US investment fund Farallon is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire Brazilian highway concessionaire Rota das Bandeiras from Odebrecht TransPort, an unit of embattled construction and engineering group Odebrecht.
Farallon wants to acquire control of Rota das Bandeiras for up to 1.5bn reais (US$403mn), according to Valor Econômico newspaper, which did not reveal its source.
Rota das Bandeiras operates over 297km of highway in São Paulo state under a 30-year concession awarded in 2009.
Odebrecht is at the epicenter of the Lava Jato graft probe into construction contracts at federal oil company Petrobras. The scandal led to a drop in revenue, requiring the company to sell assets to service its debt.
