Fide, Phillips ink energy savings deal

Mexico's power savings trust Fide and Philips have signed a contract to implement energy savings program Luz Sustentable. The initiative's first phase will kick off in June and wrap up at year-end with the aim of substituting 22.9mn incandescent bulbs with energy savings ones to benefit 5.7mn families, Fide said in a statement. In a pilot phase, 1.2mn bulbs were replaced. A second phase to replace another 22.9mn bulbs is planned for 2012.
