Financing deal inked for Rosario paving works

Argentina's Santa Fe province and the government of the city of Rosario signed a financing deal for a 1bn-peso (US$26mn) project to carry out paving works on 139 blocks of the river port city, the contract for which is expected to be tendered in the coming days.

The agreement states that the 1bn pesos will come from the payment of the funds owed to Santa Fe province by the federal government under the country's co-participation rules, the city government said in a release.

The works will benefit five neighborhoods of Rosario and will also target the city's 27 de Febrero avenue, where works will be conducted to improve 10 blocks, as this area suffers from heavy truck traffic.

The agreement is part of a wider plan of paving works launched in 2016, which is intended to improve 1,000 blocks in Rosario. Currently, the city government is working on 116 blocks in three neighborhoods.
