Gas, fertilizers and electricity on the Bolivia-Brazil bilateral agenda

UCOM-MHE-02-01-2023.- The constitutional president of Bolivia, Luis Alberto Arce Catacora, reported that this Monday he will meet with his Brazilian counterpart, Luis Inácio Lula Da Silva, to address issues related to the export of gas, urea and potassium chloride; and electricity, within the framework of the bilateral agenda of both countries.
"We have many issues in common (...), the review of the gas contract, (...), the issue of exporting potassium chloride, salt here to Brazil," said the Bolivian President, during his visit to Brazil for Lula's investiture.
“(We want) to expand our production and export frontier here to the Republic of Brazil. It is not only gas, we want to talk about urea”, added Arce.
The President of the Plurinational State indicated that other issues for investment in the energy sector will also be discussed, such as the construction of a second urea plant.
On the other hand, since 2021 Bolivia coordinates with Brazil to develop Binational Hydroelectric Inventory Studies of the Madera River and Main Tributaries, in order to take advantage of the electrical potential of these rainwater areas for the benefit of both countries.
“(…) Unfortunately we have been with the government of Mr. (Jair) Bolsonaro quite far away. (…) There is a broad agenda that has been contained for all this time and we are sure that with President Lula this will be unlocked,” Arce asserted.
