Icelandic consortium lands Bolivia geothermal consultancy work
Bolivia’s state power company Ende has awarded work to help determine the future of the 100MW Laguna Colorada geothermal project.
The winner of the 160-day contract is a consortium comprised of Icelandic firms Mannvit and Verkis, procurement information shows.
The other bidder in the call issued in September was Steam S.R.L.
The consultancy work will evaluate the project’s economic viability within the current and future context of the national and international energy market and decide on its continuity. The work will also review the conceptual engineering and technical studies.
Ende is currently developing a 5MW pilot plant as part of Laguna Colorada that will supply surrounding communities.
The government’s goal is to double electricity generation with renewable sources by 2030.
