The president of the National Communications Agency (Enacom), Silvana Giudici (pictured), participated in the opening of the 5th Conference on Spectrum Management in Latin America. The event, which takes place on September 5 and 6 in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, is organized by Forum Global and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), together with the Ministry of Modernization.
"The deployment of the Telecommunications Infrastructure and the management of the Radioelectric Spectrum are key elements to enable not only the reduction of the digital divide, allowing connectivity and Internet access to underserved areas or unmet needs, but also allow us to support the data traffic that will be generated in the medium and long term, taking into account its constant growth, a product of the greater demand that is generated with the new applications and services commented," the head of Enacom said.
Giudici also added: "The National Communications Agency is making great efforts in the application of public policies aimed at optimizing radio spectrum resources in order to generate a better provision of services and coverage."
Some of the main topics discussed in this conference are the planning of the mobile spectrum, considering the release of frequency bands for the implementation of the mobile service; spectrum management and attribution in Argentina; awarding and pricing of spectrum auctions; deployments of 4G mobile network infrastructure and broadband connectivity. In addition, issues related to the forthcoming World Radiocommunication Conference (2019) of the ITU will be put on the agenda, as well as the identification of future frequency bands that will be used in the Mobile Services with 5G technologies, among other topics.
