IN BRIEF: Bolivia to increase watchdog's powers
Bolivia's lower house approved a bill to increase the powers of the electricity regulator to guarantee power supply.
Lawmakers greenlighted modifications to the power framework law to allow the termination of a utility's license if there is a supply risk that would impact the "fundamental right to universal electricity service."
The bill also establishes the procedures for taking over service from an operator until a new tender is launched, as well appeal and compensation processes.
