Construcap wins São Paulo parks auction
Construction company Construcap won an auction for the concessions of six municipal parks in São Paulo city.
The company offered 70.7mn reais (US$18.2mn) for the concessions of Ibirapuera, Jacintho Alberto, Eucaliptos, Tenente Brigadeiro Faria Lima, Lajeado, and Jardim Felicidade.
Construcap's offer was well above the 25.4mn reais its competitor Grupo Cataratas offered.
According to city hall, Construcap will pay a variable grant throughout the concession, estimated at 82.mn reais, corresponding to 1.12% of the concessionaire's gross revenue.
City hall now will evaluate Construcap's financial guarantees, before announcing the contract in the local official gazette.
"The minimum amount expected to be invested in the parks (and defined by the concession) is 16mn reais. Investments will be made in installing and improving sports equipment, playgrounds, hiking trails, lighting, furniture, among others," city hall said.
The proceeds from the auction will be invested in health, security and transportation, among others.
