Argentina watch: Satisfaction survey, environmental insurance

Two thirds of insurance claimants surveyed in Argentina said they were very satisfied with the service received during the claims process.

The survey was conducted by local consultancy Sel Consultores for insurance associations AACS and Adira.

Sel surveyed insurance clients who had made P&C policy claims - auto, home, for example - that were finalized last year.

In terms of loyalty, 64% of respondents said they would remain with their insurer.

More than 31,000 clients of 18 insurers were sent the online survey, which was conducted from June-July this year and had a response rate of 21%.

The country's environment and sustainable development minister, Sergio Bergman, said environmental insurance is an "essential tool."

"We want to promote industrial, commercial and service-sector activities, which will permit Argentina to add value, bring investment and, fundamentally, combat poverty," he said during a seminar on environmental insurance.

"We must promote and facilitate this based on a framework of honesty, and not at the expense of the environment or people's health," he added.

Companies or industries whose activities are potentially damaging to the environment must have environmental insurance which provides cover in the event of an incident.

Environmental monitoring secretary Theirry Decoud said: "Argentina is a pioneer in the area of environmental insurance," adding that it was a management tool for the state.
