Mexico launches Transístmico rail studies tender
Mexico's transport and communications ministry (SCT) is seeking a contractor to advance the Transístmico rail project planned for the country's southeast.
The winning bidder will be required to carry out pre-investment, technical, legal, environmental and financial feasibility studies for construction of the rail line, according to documents published on the government procurement portal CompraNet.
The Transístmico rail project has been talked about for decades. The tender would appear to confirm the current government's commitment to the project as part of a program to develop the region's infrastructure.
The Transístmico rail project will involve a 300km high-speed rail link between the Gulf coast port of Coatzacoalcos in Veracruz and the Pacific coast port of Salina Cruz in Oaxaca.
Work on the studies is expected to start on October 15 and wrap within three months.
Interested parties must submit their proposals by October 9, when a tender award date will be announced.
