Mexico okays one O&G plan change, rejects another
Mexico’s hydrocarbons commission CNH cleared one updated 2021 work program and rejected another.
Answering a request by DS Servicios Petroleros, the commission allowed the firm to modify its plans for the M4-Ébano/2018 exploration contract straddling the states of Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz, where the company now expects to invest US$3.69mn to conduct seismic exploration.
During an extraordinary session on Monday, the regulator also rejected a request by Fieldwood Energy to modify its budget for its A4 contract off the coast of Tabasco on the grounds the firm had not properly justified a cost increase.
Fieldwood said it planned to modify the timetable of the project, which contains the Ichalkil and Pokoch discoveries off the coast of Tabasco, to push back the spudding of its sixth well in Ichalkil due to delays in signing with national oil giant Pemex a deal to reinforce an oil pipeline and for the start of operations of two platforms. The change also sought to make some adjustments to the project’s budget.
Fieldwood said it planned to invest US$624mn in the area this year.
