Mexico postpones shallow water partnership auction
Mexico's hydrocarbons commission (CNH) has postponed a shallow water partnership auction, originally scheduled for June 19, until October 4, when a company is due to be selected to partner with state oil firm Pemex.
The decision was made during a meeting of CNH's governing body on Thursday, which was live streamed.
The partnership auction was originally due to be held alongside the first auction of Round Two, which is scheduled to go ahead as planned on June 19.
The partnership auction will be held to find a partner for Pemex's E&P division PEP to jointly develop the Ayín-Batsil field with.
The CNH had said in March that the deadline for firms seeking to partner Pemex, which was April 12, could be pushed back to facilitate greater participation. The commission has not released details of how many firms have expressed an interest. Meanwhile, 28 companies have been accredited for the pre-qualification process for the shallow water auction, in which 15 contractual areas will be offered.
