Mexico reportedly cancels Cancún road tender
The Mexican government has reportedly canceled one of the four tenders it launched this year for road projects to improve mobility in Quintana Roo tourism hub Cancún.
The canceled tender is the construction of 238mn-peso Chac Mool avenue that would connect the Huayacán avenue with federal highway 307, according to local daily El Economista, which based its report on information from the infrastructure, communications and transport ministry (SICT).
The four tenders totaled around 7.20bn pesos (US$356mn) in public investment and were supposed to be delivered by the end of 2023, according to earlier government statements.
The Chac Mool project was the only one that had not been awarded by August.
The other three projects are the 900mn-peso refurbishment of the Luis Donaldo Colosio boulevard, the 200mn-peso of the junction to Cancún airport, and works worth 5bn pesos to build the Nichupté bridge.
