Mexico slaps antidumping duties on steel tubes
Mexico has imposed antidumping duties on imports of steel tubes from four countries.
The duties cover seamless carbon steel tubes imported from South Korea, Spain, India and Ukraine, according to a filing on the website of the official federal gazette.
The filing follows an antidumping probe launched in December 2016 by Mexico's economy ministry at the request of local tube producer Tamsa.
The final duties replace preliminary levies imposed last August. The rates are unchanged at US$379/t for Spanish imports and US$207/t, US$170/t and US$131/t, respectively, for products from India, Ukraine and South Korea, respectively.
Dumping is considered a key threat to Mexico's steelmakers, with Asian countries widely viewed as the main culprits.
Mexico imposed antidumping duties of US$0.356-0.618/kg on Chinese steel tubes in March.
