Minister of economy held meeting with representatives of miner Buenaventura

This is an automated translation of the original MEF release published in Spanish.

Within the framework of the dialogue initiated with business associations as part of the Plan Impulso Perú, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Kurt Burneo, held a meeting with the general manager of mining company Buenaventura, Leandro García, as well as with the Vice President of Sustainability of the company, Alejandro Hermosa.

During the meeting, a recount was made of the company's investment projects in various regions of the country and its projections for the coming years. Likewise, coordination was carried out to speed up their development, in order to boost production, as well as to generate employment and economic activity in the regions where they operate.

Buenaventura operates production units such as Coimolache (Cajamarca), La Zanja (Cajamarca), Julcani (Huancavelica), Tambomayo (Arequipa), Orcopampa (Arequipa), Colquijirca (Pasco), among others. Likewise, it has investment projects such as San Gabriel (Moquegua), Yumpaq, Río Seco Copper Plant (Huaral), El Faique (Piura), Trapiche (Andahuaylas), among others.

It should be noted that the operations of the Buenaventura company employ more than 12,000 people in all its operations nationwide, of which 60% are exclusively personnel from the regions in which it has a presence.

As recalled, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) launched Plan Impulso Perú in September, whose measures and actions seek, in the short term, to ensure the sustained growth of economic activity, promoting public and private investment and generating greater demand for formal employment and private consumption.
