Mitsubishi requests delay to US$1.2bn transmission tender
In the sixth round of clarifications and questions for Mexico's 1,200km Yautepec-Ixtepec transmission line, Mitsubishi Corporation requested a 60-day deadline extension. The Japanese firm argued that the additional information given during the fifth round of questions was so extensive that it required more time for analysis.
Proposals for the US$1.2bn 3000MW transmission line are currently due September 25, with state-run electricity utility CFE slated to announce the winner on October 19. The project involves the construction of two convertor stations, four direct current feeders, five alternating current feeders, seven substations, five alternating current transmission lines and one direct current transmission line.
In this latest round of questions the 84 companies registered submitted 148 questions for clarification.
The round was organized after CFE published manuals for the design of underground transmission lines, installation materials for such lines, design of aerial transmission lines, design of electrical substations and the electro-mechanical design of substations.
All seven tenders will be up for bidding in September in this decisive phase for the electricity sector. Proposals are due for the US$1.1bn Baja California transmission project September 15 with the selection scheduled for September 28.
The deadline for the 60MVA substation and 7.9km transmission line in Mexico City expires September 6 with the decision planned for September 21, while proposals for a 40MVA substation and 12km transmission line in Veracruz state are due September 6 with September 20 set for the announcement of the winner.
Proposals for a 30MVA substation and 0.2km transmission line also in Veracruz are due September 13 and the winner will be announced September 27.
The deadline for a 30MVA substation and 5.24km transmission line in San Luis Potosi state are due September 17 with the decision taking place October 2, and proposals for a 30MVA substation and 5.8km transmission line in Sonora state are due August 28 while the winner will be announced September 12.
