Oi, Claro win Banco do Brasil tender

A consortium formed by Brazilian telecom operators Claroand Oi was awarded a contract to provide national and international fixed voice and digital services to Banco do Brasil.

The contract is valid for 60 months and worth nearly 504mn reais (US$161mn). It involves 8,222 land lines and 4,298 digital links in the bank's offices and branches.

Oi, including its subsidiary Telemar Norte Leste, holds a 83.45% stake in the consortium, with Claro having the rest.

The information comes from the minutes of a board meeting Oi filed with securities watchdog CVM.

Rio de Janeiro-based Oi is fighting bankruptcy, having filed last June for Brazil's biggest ever Chapter 11-style protection, with 65bn reais of debt.
