Ancap, Petrobras ponder gas distribution partnership

Bnamericas
A technical team from Uruguay's state oil company Ancap has met with Brazil's state-run energy major Petrobras (NYSE: PBR) to discuss a future gas distribution alliance, according to a report on Uruguay's presidential website. The partnership would complement Uruguay's planned LNG regasification plant, due to come online in 2013. Petrobras already has a presence in the market through distributor Montevideo Gas, in which it holds a 66% interest, and Conecta, with a 55% interest. In Uruguay the amount of gas piped daily is currently less than 250,000m3/d, according to the statement. Ancap, state power company UTE and Argentine equivalent Enarsa are collaborating on the 10Mm3/d capacity LNG plant.
