Exploration planned for central Peru jungle

Peru environmental authorities received documents for an exploratory program in the central Amazon.

Gran Tierra Energy-controlled Petrolífera Petroleum del Perú plans to drill up to eight exploration and confirmation wells from block 107 locations Osheki and Kametza, according to the semi-detailed EIS filed with the energy and mines ministry's energy environmental affairs office.

Informative workshops as part of the permitting process are scheduled this month in Pasco region. The block covers 252,232ha.

Information from state hydrocarbons exploration and production agency Perupetro reveals Petrolífera has requested a three year exploration phase extension for the block 107 license contract.

Perupetro added that Petrolífera began topography work in the Pachitea sub-basin, as part of a 311km, 2D seismic shoot on the acreage.
