Mexico unveils income from upstream contracts

Mexico has received 1.1bn pesos (US$58mn) this year related to upstream licensing rounds, according to preliminary numbers released by hydrocarbons commission CNH.

Of the total, 64% will go to CNH's budget, 32% to the finance ministry and 4% to the treasury.

Income so far in 2018 is the lowest since the beginning of the energy reform. In 2015 the country received 2.49bn pesos in income related to the contracts, 1.86bn pesos in 2016 and 1.39bn pesos last year.

The principle sources of income were 262mn pesos in fees for the administration and technical oversight of hydrocarbons exploration and production contracts, 133mn pesos for seismic data and 93mn pesos for technical assistance in accessing data on onshore conventional contractual areas.

In related news, CNH issued four permits for surface exploration and reconnaissance (ARES) in September, two of which were for CCG, one for Seitel and one for Dowell-SIB.
