Peru advances preparation for acreage partner search
Peru's government this year aims to define the terms and conditions to select a partner to operate block 192 (pictured) in the Marañón basin, northern Loreto region.
BNamericas has learned that state oil company Petroperú selected local firm Enerconsult to help evaluate contractual aspects of the producing acreage which Pacific Stratus Energy currently operates under a temporary contract.
Enerconsult will propose terms and conditions to be negotiated between Petroperú and hydrocarbons licensing authority Perúpetro, and, based on the outcome of the talks, propose terms and conditions that the NOC will use to seek a partner.
The 12-month consultancy contract includes accompanying Petroperú during the partner selection process which an investment bank will manage.
Year to date, block 192 has been Peru's second largest oil producing area at 9,771b/d, behind CNPC-operated block X with 12,852b/d, according to Perúpetro. Countrywide crude output in the period averaged 48,994b/d.
Meanwhile, Petroperú selected Lima-based Technology & Environmental Assessment for a 10-month contract to provide evaluation, supervision and inspection services related to the company's environmental operations, in particular the spill-stricken Nor Peruano oil pipeline.
