Paraguay to launch wastewater treatment plant tender

Bnamericas

Paraguay's public works ministry (MOPC) will launch an international tender to build a wastewater treatment plant along the Yukyry stream in October.

The government plans to spend US$60mn from sovereign bond proceeds to finance the project, which is part of the Ypacaraí lake recovery plan, of which the Yukyry stream is the main tributary.

MOPC has allocated US$250mn to expanding sewerage services and building wastewater treatment plants in the Ypacaraí lake basin. Sewage from over 500,000 residents in Asunción's metropolitan area is directly discharged into the lake.
