In the month of August of this year, the internal consumption of cement grew 1.28% in relation to the same month of the year 2021, explained by the execution of private works, reflected in the increase in the dispatch of cement; This was announced by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in the technical report Short-term Advance of Economic Activity.

In the period January-August 2022, the internal consumption of cement registered an increase of 1.38% when compared to the same period in 2021.

It is worth mentioning that this result occurred within the framework of the State of National Emergency in the country with the adoption of new measures for the reestablishment of social coexistence, extended according to Supreme Decree No. 092-2022-PCM, in force for 28 days of the month. of August 2022.

In 14.75% the production of the Fishing sector decreased

In the eighth month of this year, the Fishing sector decreased 14.75% as a result of the lower extraction of species of maritime origin (-17.08%), destined for direct human consumption (-27.33%); both for the cured preparation (-53.3%), frozen (-41.8%), as well as for consumption in the fresh state (-11.4%).

On the contrary, landings for indirect human consumption of anchovy (fishmeal and fish oil) increased, registering an extraction of 35,295 tons, compared to the 2,689 tons reported in August 2021, helped by the second fishing season of anchoveta in the southern part of the coast, an area with less availability of this resource.

On the other hand, fishing of continental origin was reduced by 4.40% explained by the lower extraction of species for consumption in fresh state (-29.7%).

Production of the Mining and Hydrocarbons sector fell 5.01%

In the month of analysis, the Mining and Hydrocarbons sector contracted by 5.01% due to the negative behavior of the component subsectors. The metal mining subsector decreased 4.23% as a result of lower production volumes of tin (-17.6%), molybdenum (-15.7%), silver (-11.2%), iron (- 8.1%), zinc (-2.9%), copper (-2.4%) and lead (-1.6%); however, gold production grew (0.6%).

Similarly, the hydrocarbons subsector registered a negative variation (-10.37%) due to the effect of lower exploitation of natural gas liquids (-38.1%); while natural gas (27.9%) and crude oil (14.1%) increased.

The electricity subsector increased by 5.18%

According to preliminary figures, in September of this year, the production of the electricity subsector increased by 5.18% as a result of the higher energy requirement of thermoelectric origin (7.00%) and renewable energies (36.60%); however, hydroelectric energy decreased (-0.49%); in a context of recovery of economic activities.

Among the companies that increased their production, the following stood out: San Gabán, Chinango, Egemsa, Kallpa Generación, Empresa Generadora Huanza, Termochilca, Statkraft, SDF Energía and Engie.

Granting of consumer and mortgage loans for housing maintained positive behavior

In August 2022, consumer loans stood at S/ 65,078 million, followed by mortgage loans with S/ 59,298 million, increasing by 25.66% and 8.26%, respectively, compared to the same month of the year 2021. On the contrary, loans granted to companies amounted to S/ 236,202 million, registering a reduction of 1.56%.

The placement of multiple banking credit cards stood at 6 million 657 thousand units, a figure 17.70% higher than the same month of the previous year.

Total imports increased by 27.30%

During the month of analysis, the total amount imported was US$ 5,614 million, increasing 27.30%, compared to the value registered in August 2021; according to information available from the Deputy National Superintendency of Customs (SUNAT) as of September 28 of this year.

The import of raw materials and intermediate products contributed to this positive result, standing at US$ 3,174 million and growing by 42.29%, in relation to the month of August of last year. Also, they showed favorable behavior, the importation of consumer goods that stood at US$ 1,108 million, increasing 23.86% and the acquisition of capital goods and construction materials, amounting to US$ 1,332 million, with a growth of 4.17%.

Collection of the General Sales Tax grew by 13.81% and the Selective Consumption Tax by 9.07%

With information provided by SUNAT, in August of this year, the collection of the General Sales Tax (IGV) reached 4,070 million soles and registered an increase of 13.81% compared to the same month of 2021, followed by the selective tax to consumption that showed a growth of 9.07% and collected 485 million soles.
