Brazilian power regulator Aneel has extended the deadline for expressions of interest in December's auction from existing plants.
Generators now have until November 5 to submit necessary documents, five days beyond the original cut-off, the mining and energy ministry said in a statement.
Generators participating in the December 5 round must begin deliveries on January 1.
Energy will be negotiated by quantity, except for thermoelectric power, which will be traded in the three-year "availability" modality.
All agreements will be negotiated on Brazil's CCEAR regulated market.
