Brazil sets bidding rules for alternative sources

New projects included in Brazil's next auction for alternative power sources will have until July 2017 to start commercial operations, the mining and energy ministry (MME) said on Monday.

Existing biomass plants will be required to begin 20-year supply contracts on January 1, 2016, according to an MME statement.

The bid round – whose contracts will be negotiated on the regulated market – will be held on April 10 next year.

Bidders have until November 14 to submit all necessary documents to compete at the auction.
