Brazil's national transport agency ANTT launched a public consultancy phase on Friday to prepare a tender for the up to US$565mn Rio-Niterói bridge concession in Rio de Janeiro, according to a transport ministry release.
The consultancy phase, which lasts until October 24, includes two public hearings. One is scheduled for October 15 in the city of Rio de Janeiro and involves receiving general suggestions or comments about the tender documents and the drafted contract.
The other, set for October 17, will be used to address questions about the technical and economic feasibility of the 13.2km bridge concession, among others. It will be held in Brasília.
Civil works for the concession involve building an underpass below the Renascença square in Niterói.
During the hearings, discussions will also be held to determine whether the concession will also include other works planned on Portuária avenue, the release said.
Without Portuária avenue, the foreseen investment is 976mn reais and toll booth revenue throughout the 30-year concession is expected to be 4.63bn reais. With Portuária avenue, the investment should be 1.37bn reais and toll booth revenue 5.81bn reais.
With a 7.2% annual return on investment, the tolls without Portuária avenue are set at 4.28 reais and 5.07 reais with the avenue, according to the release.
