Colombia's national infrastructure agency ANI and airport concessionaire Sociedad Operadora de Aeropuertos Centro Norte (Airplan) inked a 384bn-peso (US$165.5mn) contract for expansion and modernization works at six airports.
The works are slated for Airplan's concessioned airports in Corozal (Sucre department), Montería (Córdoba), Quibdó (Chocó), Carepa, Rionegro and Medellín (all in Antioquia).
Quibdó received the lion's share of the contract, or 180bn pesos, for the complete expansion and re-pavement of a 1,800m runway, and commercial works that include a hotel and casino, according to a government release.
The Rionegra airport will receive 131bn pesos for the construction of a new loading terminal and runway re-paving, among other works, according to the release.
