Dundee to implement cyanide-free technologies in Argentina

Montreal-based Dundee Sustainable Technologies (DST) signed a memorandum of understanding with Argentina's San Juan Mining to implement DST's proprietary cyanide-free technologies.

Under the agreement, the two firms will install a laboratory and a pilot plant in San Juan province, a press release said.

They will also train local people in the development of the infrastructure required for the implementation and use of the technologies, including the treatment of arsenic, it added.

The memorandum is due to be ratified on October 27 in San Juan.

DST's cyanide and mercury-free gold extraction process has been recognized as a "green technology" for which the firm has been awarded Cdn$5.7mn (US$4mn) in grants to date for a demonstration plant, presently under construction in the town of Thetford Mines, Quebec.
