Aerostar also spent US$24mn improving Terminal D and is investing another US$75mn to renovate Terminal C by end-2015.

Served by 31 airlines, the airport handles some 8.5mn travelers a year.

In 2012, Aerostar Airport Holdings – comprising Asur and New York-based Highstar Capital – won a 40-year lease to operate and maintain the airport.

The group has said previously it plans to carry out a US$1.4bn capital investment program at the airport over the duration of the lease.
