Roundup: Puebla highway, Port Freeport-canal authority MOU, Edomex bridge

The governor of Mexico's Puebla state, Rafael Moreno Valle, has launched reconstruction works on the Acuaco-Huehuetla highway, according to a release from the state government. Some 14.3km of the highway was rehabilitated following damage due to heavy rains, according to the release. The natural disaster fund, Fonden, provided the 42.5mn-peso (US$3.24mn) investment. *** Commissioners from Panama's Port Freeport have extended an MOU with the Panama Canal Authority to promote business between the two, according to a release from Port Freeport. The MOU has been extended for five years with both authorities aiming to "increase international trade and create new business by promoting the all-water- route between Asia and the Gulf of Mexico through Port Freeport via the Panama Canal," according to the statement. *** Mexico state (Edomex) governor Eruviel Ávila has inaugurated a bridge in state capital Toluca, according to a release from the state government. Works cost 191mn pesos and included construction of an 8m wide bridge stretching 390m north and 420m south, according to the release. The bridge will be used by some 17,000 vehicles each day.
