Status of works to rescue miners trapped in the El Pinabete mine, Coahuila

In response to the different stories and remarks in the press where they erroneously mention that the CFE stopped the works to rescue the miners who were unfortunately trapped in the El Pinabete Mine, we would like to clarify the following:

The project for the Rescue of Miners trapped in the El Pinabete Mine consists of different stages of execution, which establish different activities and objectives such as Site Preparation, Excavation, Injection and Plugging Treatments, Rescue and Restoration of the site.

In this regard, fully complying with the presidential instruction that the CFE will be in charge of coordinating the work for the Rescue of the Miners, since the month of September the project was presented to the relatives of the miners and authorities that assist in the care of this topic.

Stage 1 work began on September 2 and has been completed. The company Construcciones Transforma SA de CV was in charge of carrying out activities such as the preparation of the site, removal of installations, clearing, stripping and beginning of excavation.

Regarding Stage 2, which considers the Excavation of the pit and pumping up to the roof of the galleries, the CFE summoned 32 companies specialized in the field to present the project and invite them to participate.

The following companies participated: ICA, SA de CV, Engineering and Real Estate Development of Mexico, SA de CV and Grupo Construcciones Planizadas, SA de CV As a result, on November 3, the Contractor Grupo Construcciones Planizadas SA de CV was awarded , beginning the works on November 4 and whose end is contemplated on August 30, 2023.

Due to the above, it is denied and it is clarified that the work for the Rescue of the Miners has not stopped at any time. The CFE is executing Stage 2, without reporting any delay to the project schedule, which was defined based on the technical specifications and the degree of detail required for this type of work.

The CFE endorses its position to comply with the presidential commitment signed with the families of the Miners, for which it will continue coordinating the Rescue work and providing timely information on the progress of this important project.
