Técnicas Reunidas lands new Peru refinery work
Madrid-based engineering and construction company Técnicas Reunidas, the principal contractor for Peru's Talara refinery modernization project, has been awarded new work by state oil company Petroperú as part of the overhaul.
The contract is for the auxiliary units, such as the cogeneration plant, hydrogen and acid production units, seawater intake and submarine outfall, and seawater desalination, potable water treatment and wastewater treatment plants, Técnicas said in its 2016 full-year results.
The Spanish group added that it will update the final scope and schedule of the new works and the US$830mn budget from 2012.
The new package includes ancillary facilities such as the modernization of the refinery's electrical system, the kerosene treatment and spent soda treatment units, additional buildings and tanks, a new laboratory, expansion of fire protection systems, catalysts and chemicals, among others.
REGIONAL BACKLOG
Latin America represented 15% of Técnicas Reunidas' 10.6bn-euro (US$11.2bn) backlog at end-December, which does not include the new Talara work.
The Middle East accounted for 67%, Europe 10% and rest of the world 8%, according to the group's latest results presentation.
Last year's regional awards included the Minatitlán refining project for Pemex in Mexico, where the company also picked up FEED work for the Enagas regasification plant in Baja California and two power generation projects.
Elsewhere in Latin America, Técnicas Reunidas is working on the Los Mina power project in the Dominican Republic.
