This year there have been 14 attacks against the oil infrastructure in Colombia
In this past year, 14 attacks against the oil infrastructure have occurred, especially on the Caño Limón-Coveñas pipeline, which has affected the environment, despite the activation of the contingency plans by the operators.
The National Authority of Environmental Licenses (ANLA) has been monitoring these incidents strictly, which, in most cases, have an impact on the ecosystems.
In the last 18 years there have been 2100 attacks, according to the official records of Ecopetrol, but there have also been multiple perforations to the tube for the theft of fuels. Since the operation of the Caño Limón-Coveñas Pipeline began, about 33 years ago, the blasting amounts to more than 1400.
The most recent attack on the oil infrastructure was presented this March 6 against the Trans-Andean Pipeline (OTA) at the height of the path Coataquer in the municipality of Mallama, Nariño.
According to reports to the ANLA, at the time of the attack the OTA was not in operation, but the terrorist action produced a fire that forced the immediate activation of the contingency plan and the warning to the Departmental Council of Attention of the Risk of Nariño.
Implementation continues
It is important to point out that the action program agreed last year for the updating of the Risk Management Plan of the Caño Limón Coveñas Pipeline, one of the most important in the country and extending 773.9 kilometers, continues to advance.
This Plan is advanced by ANLA, Ecopetrol and its subsidiary of Transportation and Logistics of Hydrocarbons (CENIT) and the Regional Autonomous Corporation of the Border (Corponor).
As you will remember, this plan has five items, each with activities, responsibilities, times and defined deliverables that are: identification of threatening events, estimation of areas of affectation, vulnerable elements, analysis and evaluation of risks and operation of control points .
