Rio de Janeiro, November 18, 2022 - TIM, leader in 5G coverage in the country and present in 100% of the districts of the city of São Paulo, has just taken the connection to around 60 Itaú Unibanco bank branches in the city of São Paulo. The operator today already has more than half of the 5G stations licensed in Brazil, with over 1,000 in the city of São Paulo alone. The novelty is part of an Itaú project that took the latest in mobile connectivity to 100 branches in five Brazilian states.

The bank was a pioneer in testing the fifth generation of mobile telecommunication networks in bank branches, with implementation on an experimental basis in two units in São Paulo since 2021. “Since the beginning of our tests, it was possible to notice substantial gains in traffic speed of data in our internal systems, in addition to a significant improvement in connection availability, which allows us to test new possibilities for serving our customers - providing a union between the agility of the digital environment and the convenience of face-to-face service. In this context, we remain focused on expanding the novelty to other locations in Brazil, as soon as this type of connection is available in more locations in the country”, says Fabio Napoli, director of technology at Itaú Unibanco.

“We are happy to support Itaú in this innovation process at the branches, always focusing on quality. We are pioneers in the deployment of 5G for the corporate market and we want to support the financial sector throughout this process, which promises to make a leap in efficiency. With faster and safer operations, the return on investment will be reflected especially in the quality and customer experience”, summarizes Paulo Humberto Gouvêa, Director of Corporate Solutions at TIM Brasil.
