Uruguay plans PV panel manufacturing hub

Uruguay's industry, energy and mining ministry (Miem) will present a bill to create a photovoltaic solar panel manufacturing hub in Paysandú department.

The project is meant to provide additional tax revenue for the government, energy minister Carolina Cosse said in a press release.

State utility UTE has said it plans to add 167MW of PV solar capacity in 2016, after bringing online 58MW in 2015.
