Description: Caimanes Solar Photovoltaic Plant Power generating plants greater than 3 MW The National Electric System (SEN), which covers from the Arica region to the Los Lagos region, has as its purpose the connectivity of electricity generation, transmission and distribution of the same to the different points of consumption. The energy matrix of the SEN at present (May 2019) is made up of an installed capacity of approximately 25,000 MW, of which around 55% corresponds to thermal plants, 27% to hydroelectric plants, 7% to wind power plants and 1% from geothermal plants. The installed capacity in solar power plants corresponds to only 10% of the total matrix. This 10% of installed capacity in solar energy contributed 9% of production in the moving year ending in December 2018, unlike what happens with the generation of thermal energy (coal, diesel, combined cycles, gas) which contributed with about 60% of the annual production. The foregoing implies that energy costs, despite the position in the energy matrix of the NCRE (Non-Conventional Renewable Energies), are still high for final consumers, so it is relevant to promote growth to the NCRE, those that have lower production costs and are more friendly to the environment. Within this framework, Generadora Caimanes SpA has developed the project “CAIMANES PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR PLANT” or hereinafter “CAIMANES PSF”, which considers the construction and operation of a photovoltaic solar park made up of two (2) small means of generation (PMG) , the first of them named PMG CAIMANES, of 9 MWac (alternating current power), and the second PMG SEMILLA, of 3 MWac. With this, the total installed capacity of the project will be 12 MWac. Both PMGs will be connected through their respective 23 kV lines to the existing Minera Los Pelambres (MLP) facilities in the S/E Los Vilos. For this, the available technology will be used by installing photovoltaic modules (approximately 50,400 modules) to capture solar energy and later be injected into the National Electric System. The PSF CAIMANES Project aims to build and operate a photovoltaic solar plant which will inject its energy production into the National Electric System (SEN). The electrical energy produced is of a clean nature due to the technology used. This transforms solar radiation into electrical energy through the installation of photovoltaic modules that together will have an installed capacity of 12 MWac. With this, PSF CAIMANES intends to use the renewable resources of the area for the production of clean, safe energy with minimal impact on the environment and thus participate in the country's electrical system, contributing to increase the participation of this type of energy in the matrix. national electric. This will reduce the need for energy from conventional sources. In this way, Generadora Caimanes SpA is aligned with the 2050 Energy Policy of the Ministry of Energy and "Axis 4. Low Emission Energy: Towards a Cleaner World", contained in the document called Energy Route 2018 - 2022.
