The Transoeste bus-rapid-transit (BRT) system connects the neighborhoods of Barra de Tijuca, Santa Cruz and Campo Grande in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro. The 56km system crosses nine neighborhoods, namely, Barra de Tijuca (from Jardín Botánico), Recreio dos Bandeirantes, Guaratiba, Sepetiba, Santa Cruz, Paciência, Cosmos, Inhoaíba and Campo Grande, benefiting 220,000 passengers a day by reducing their commuting time by up to 50%. The project has been operational since June 2012.
