Sierra Metal's 100%-owned Cusi mine encompasses 73 concessions, covering 11,977ha that include 12 historical mines, each located on a mineralized structure, and which lie within 40km of the Malpaso plant located in Chihuahua state, Mexico. On January 1, 2013, the company announced that the Cusi mine achieved commercial production. During the first nine months of 2014, ore was principally mined from the Santa Eduwiges mine, and Sierra Minerals plans to increase production from surrounding mines, including Promontorio and Minerva, in the second half of 2014. In March 2014, Sierra Metals increased the indicated mineral resource estimate at its Cusihuiriachic (Cusi) property 70% to 12.4Moz silver. Total resources comprise 1.67Mt at 232g/t silver in the indicated category. Inferred resources increased 37% in silver ounces to 20Moz, while tonnage increased 66% to 2.74Mt at 227g/t silver. The Cusi property is a historical mine dating back to the 17th century. The mine produced 423,000oz silver in 2013, with throughput of 305t/d.
